Summer is just around the corner and I cannot wait The upcoming change in seasons has me thinking a lot about lying in the sun and soaking up its warmth, but I’ve got a different type of heat on my mind as well – the heat that the 2012 Trumbull Mercedes-Benz C-Class models will be bringing! The line-up looks hotter than ever, especially the C63 AMG, and I can’t wait for their release.
While most of the C-Class line-up is getting a new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter engine, the C63 AMG will keep the 6.2-liter V8 which produces 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. What will change underneath the hood is the vehicle’s transmission. The new speedster will feature a seven-speed Speedshift Plus MCT automatic transmission, which trades a conventional torque converter for a clutch pack. The new transmission, first seen in the SL63 and now spreading throughout the lineup, allows the driver to choose from four different driving modes and includes AMG’s Race Start launch-control function. I hope the transmission will become more readily available on other models from the local Trumbull Mercedes dealers.
In addition the changed transmission, the C63 AMG has a refined suspension. More negative camber has been dialed in, and a larger-diameter rear anti-roll bar has been fitted. New spring and damper rates are supposed to improve dynamics while reducing tire noise and vibration. Both of these come as welcome news to me. Read more…
